What Do We Need?
If you're interested in helping out, or just curious, here is a list of our current needs:
-
Team. First and foremost, we need the right leadership team. The Ramp Room was formed out of a partnership that unfortunately didn't pan out the way we had expected. After two years, it's clear that this requires more than one full-time person. If you have the time, appropriate skillset, and if you believe in the future of cycling and/or action sports, please contact us!
-
Financing. We still haven't recovered from our initial build costs, so we are struggling to keep enough inventory to drive the sales we need to support the park and riding programs. We also are facing extremely high overhead costs but we are confident that with some financial support we can negotiate with stakeholders and lower our operating expenses.
-
Space. While we have 6,200 square feet of space overall, we aren't leveraging all of our space efficiently. We have plans to expand the riding area in our current space to provide for an expanded expert jump line, an intermediate (3') jump line and a balance bike pump track. We also are looking at alternative spaces with taller ceilings to maximize the fun!
-
Consistent Support. Without this we are nothing. While we were able to squeeze out a small profit in 2024, we operate right on the margins and most months we barely break even. Seasonal businesses present unique challenges during slow months, so we need everyone to know that WE'RE NOT A SEASONAL BUSINESS! We operate a very successful (and awesome!) day camp in the summer, we run programming in the fall, winter and spring, and we are a full service bike shop that's open all year round. While it's tempting to click "buy now" for that instant dopamine rush - it has consequences. If you shop here you will save money. If you buy a bike here, we'll take care of it for you, and we'll buy it back when you're done with it. We will match online prices when we can, but we will ALWAYS give you the best price and service possible. Oh, and if you shop here, we WILL survive.
Here are some specifics
-
Lobbying. We need help getting buy in from local and state governments, community leaders, other businesses and/organizations, etc. We love to collaborate and the possibilities are endless.
-
Organization. As we get more and more outreach with offers of support, our heads are spinning. We need to respond, filter, priortize and leverage these offers.
-
Facility. We have received feedback from multiple stakeholders that our current space is the biggest impediment to longterm growth so we are on the hunt for the right space! We found one in town that we think could work:
-
8,000 sq' or more
-
20'+ ceiling height
-
-
Materials. Whether we reopen in our current space or somewhere else, we need more lumber, fasteners, and other materials to add and maintain features.
